World Cup’s New Zealand’s Andy Barron on JMS Podcast Tonight!

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Andy Barron

You might be asking yourself, “Where in the world has the Jared Montz Soccer Podcast been?”.  Since mid May I haven’t done a podcast for a few reasons.  The first was the World Cup starting and all the soccer attention was turning there.  Presently I don’t think I have the pull to land interviews with the top World Cup stars, but one day I will!  The second reason was June has a crazy busy month for me because I had 5 soccer camps in a 3 week span.  The third reason was because we are launching a new venture soon (the plan is July 8th) called CollegeRecruitingWebsite.com.  As you may imagine it takes a lot of work to start a new company so that has kept us busy too.

Having said all that I am very excited to be getting the Jared Montz Soccer Podcast back on the Internet airwaves this week!  I’m pumped for our guest Andy Barron.  I don’t normally interview full time bankers but when they play in the World Cup for the New Zealand National Team I do.  Andy plays his club ball for Team Wellington in New Zealand.  He made his World Cup debut coming off the bench against Italy in South Africa.

On the podcast we are going to talk about the World Cup, how his life has changed since returning home, club soccer in New Zealand, take a few user submitted questions and then hear his take on the who will win the World Cup and why.

This interview will happen today, Tuesday July 6th at 8pm central time so if you have a question please submit it before then.  I will be posting an audio and video version of this podcast.  If you have a questions for Andy there are a few ways you can message me your question: post a comment below in the comments section, message me on Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, or through your Online Soccer Academy account, and you can even email me at Jared@JMSoccer10.com.

The podcast should be available within a day or two of the interview happening.  You can also listen to it and past episodes on the “JMS Podcasts” category page of my blog or by subscribing for FREE in iTunes!

Yesterday I posted the video version of this podcast but today I am posting the audio version.  On Tuesday May 11th within a few hours of him finding out he was on the 30 man preliminary World Cup roster I interviewed  Sacha Kljestan on the Jared Montz Soccer Podcast.  Sacha is the Captain of Chivas USA and a World Cup hopeful.

On the podcast we talked about the World Cup announcement, what he thinks his World Cup chances are, how it feels to be Captain and what leadership role is he taking with Chivas USA, EA’s FIFA Soccer 2010 (he is on the cover), how he handles fans in the social media space, took some user submitted questions, and previewed their upcoming game.

Enjoy!

Big thanks to Dave Lindholm at Chivas USA for setting this up.  I appreciate it.

If you are in Columbus this Saturday May 15th I recommend you get out to the Crew’s stadium and watch Sacha and Chivas USA and take on the Columbus Crew.  Game time is for 7:30pm eastern time.  If you can’t make the game you can watch it live on Fox Soccer’s prime ticket or ONN-TV in Columbus.  For game updates I would follow Chivas USA on Twitter.

I’d love to hear what you thought of the interview, Sacha’s performances so far this season, do you play FIFA, what your European club he should go to one day and your thoughts on his World Cup chances.  Please feel free to share your thoughts and comments below in the comments section.  Or let me know what you think via Facebook, Twitter, or your Online Soccer Academy account.

Thanks for watching.
