The Chicago Fire’s John Thorrington was a teammate of mine when I was at the Fire.  He’s a great guy and an even better player so when he asked me if I wanted to coach at his soccer camp for the Chicago Kickers in Lake Villa, IL I had to say yes!

The last day was games and contests so of course I suggested the goal celebrations contest!  The players loved it, the fans loved it and now it’s your turn to love it!  Enjoy!

My Mandeville, Louisiana July 2010 soccer camp was covered in the local paper, The St. Tammany News.  Their sports journalist, Mike Perval is a great guy and he has been covering my career and camps for years.  He wrote a great article and interviewed a lot of the kids at camp.

Last week was my Gonzales, Louisiana soccer camp.  This also happened to be my last camp of the 2010 summer.  We a had a great week and all the players showed a lot of improvement.  One of my favorite memories at this camp was during the scrimmage one night.  The youngest group of 5-7 year old’s were scrimmaging.  Nick, age 7, kept shooting but couldn’t score and was starting to get discouraged.  Jackson, age 5, tells Nick while the play is going on, “Believe in it Nick!”.   As he is running after the ball a winded, tired Nick says, “I can’t believe in it when I keep missing…”.  Jackson then replies, “You have to Believe in it” and Nick says, “Okay”.  Next shot Nick takes is a goal and the two of them run and celebrate!!  I gave Jackson the assist on that goal!

I was so proud watching this unfold in front of me.

Last week was my Mandeville July 12-16, 2010 Jared Montz Pro Soccer Camp.  It was a great week and despite being summertime in Louisiana mother nature gave us a nice cool breeze all week so it wasn’t as hot as usual.  Our players were great as always and it was awesome to see so many players improving their game.  That is what being a good pro is all about.
