Another congratulations in is order this morning.  Mandeville Soccer Club’s Rachel Zeringue won the D1 Player of the Year.  Pictured above from left to right is Coach of the Year Keith Duet (who I blogged about earlier this morning), Rachel Zeringue and one of MSC’s DOC’s Liam Rennie.

Below is what Coach Keith had to say about her at the awards banquet.

I am very happy to present this year’s Division 1 Player of the Year award to Rachel Zeringue.  It has truly been a pleasure to coach Rachel this year.  She is a great kid and very deserving of this honor.

Rachel had a tough year last season.  She played on a team with only 11 on its roster and her coach was challenged every game to put 11 on the field.  The team shut down early and with little success and, if Rachel had been a different person, she would have moved on to different activities and forgotten about soccer.  And believe me, this is a very smart kid with lots of different interests.  I’m sure it was tempting for her and it would have been an easy thing to do. But she didn’t quit.  She didn’t do the easy thing.  Instead, she tried out and made my team.  She stepped up when I needed another center back.  She embraced the tough and sometimes thankless position and committed herself to becoming the quiet and competent leader that every coach needs in his backfield.  The one who realizes how important it is to play the ball out of the air well and works to improve her skills every practice, every game; the one gets up after being fouled with a smile on her face; the one who encourages rather than criticizes her teammates; the one who never misses a practice and is always up for a tough match.

Rachel, thanks for being such a great kid.  It has been an honor to coach you.  You deserve this award and I am very proud of you.

Congrats Rachel!  You deserve this.  Keep up the good work!

Above is a picture of Coach Keith Duet.  Keith won the D1 Mandeville Soccer Club Coach of the Year award recently.  Keith is a great guy and he commits a lot of time (volunteer time) to coaching youth soccer.  He coaches both his daughters’ teams and he coaches a JV High School team too.  Hey says, “I can’t think of a better way to spend time with my daughters!”

I know Keith personally because I was a guest coach/trainer for both his teams this past season, his girls have been to my camps and have participated in the Online Soccer Academy.  He is a great guy, excellent with the girls and he would be the first to say he doesn’t deserve this award but I promise you he does.

Congrats again Keith and keep up the good work!

Yep, I am two for two signing foreheads at marketing events!  Glad to know I still got it and can continue to “live the dream” of signing foreheads!  Hopefully getting your forehead signed by me becomes the cool thing to do one day!  That would be awesome!! LOL!

These were the girls that made me pay (charitable donation to their soccer club) to have my hair spray painted ORANGE!!  I must admit they did a good job though!!

This weekend, Mandeville Soccer Club (my old club) is having there huge Midnight Madness Tournament and I am very excited to be one of the sponsors!

Wanted to say thank you to one of my excellent soccer camp sponsors, LLOG Exploration.  Scott Gutterman is the President/CEO of LLOG Exploration and a first class guy in the community.  You will probably ever need to speak to his company unless you think you have oil or gas in your backyard (if you do I want a percentage for putting you in touch!) but just know that Scott is a great guy and does a lot for the greater Mandeville, Louisiana Soccer Community.

Congratulations to the Mandeville Soccer Club’s U-15 Division 1 team, the Aftershock, on their Championship in the Hub City Classic Soccer Tournament in Lafayette, Louisiana.  The coach of the team, Jim Rask, just turned 50 and what better way to celebrate than with a championship and your picture in the local paper!  Happy Birthday Jim!

I have known Coach Rask for a few years now and he has been sending his son and few of his players to just about every camp I have.  Big shout out to the Aftershock players I coach in my Online Soccer Academy; Ben Satterlee, Bradon Daigle, James Rask, and Lucky Prosper.
