Meet Jared Montz da Cajun Beach Soccer Playa

On Wednesday of this week I am flying to Oceanside, California to be a special guest at the Southern California Beach Soccer Championships! One of the people behind this great event is Gino Rossi. He and I met via Twitter (follow him @BeachSoccer) a few months ago and got to talking soccer and next thing you know I am on my way to California for the 2nd largest beach soccer event in the country!
The event will have about 4,000 youth beach soccer players, a pro tournament, a free beach soccer clinic with the U.S. National Beach Soccer Team, thousands of fans, plenty of guest appearances by big time former pros, and Chivas USA, LA Galaxy, and LA Sol players! Plus way more! I can’t wait!
Being from the South I like to say hello to everyone so I figured I would make a video and introduce myself ahead of time so everyone at the event will know who I am and come up and say hello! (I practiced real hard on my Cajun accent so no making fun of it!!)
I plan on taking a lot of pictures and video so be sure and check back on the blog often throughout the week and weekend; how could I not with so much going on! MTV3 and Fox Soccer Channel will be out there too so MontzTV will have a little competition but it’s all good!
I am so use to playing on da beach near the bayou that I am not sure if I will like theirs. I guess it’s okay??

They even have free Capoeira, Samba, and Surfing lessons for attendees of the tournament! Hope that counts for me because I have always wanted to learn how to surf! Sharks scare me more than Alligators do so I will have to get over that fear, but I can do it!! Believe in it!!
If you want to keep up with the action in real time then send me a friend request on Facebook or follow me on Twitter because I will be posting status updates and pictures like crazy! I can see it now, “Just met U.S. National Team legend John O’Brien”, “Having lunch with Head U.S. Beach Soccer Coach Eddie Soto”, “Just got sand in my iphone trying to do a Bicycle kick while Twittering”!!
To find out more details about the Beach Soccer Tournament and all the cool activities going on visit BeachSoccerUSA.org. They have a great website and if you have any questions contact Gino or one of the staff and they will be able to help you out.

For those of you reading this who will be at the Beach Soccer tournament please come up and say hello if you see me. I am riding solo on this trip so I am looking forward to making new friends!
Keep livin da dream!
JM
P.S. Special thanks to one of my older Online Soccer Academy players and new camp coach, Scott Mayer, for getting up early on a Saturday morning to help me film the video. Poor guy just had hand surgery but he still managed to do a great job with the camera using only one! Besides filming he was also on real Alligator watch in case one came up out of the bayou that was right next to us out of the camera’s view! He is a super smart kid, graduating in the top of his class, and will be attending UCLA this fall so I am sure he will be getting involved in Beach Soccer soon! Thanks Scott!
