Favorite Jokes!

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Today at camp was favorite jersey day and favorite joke day.  We had to combine the two due to weather issues canceling camp the day before.  These are some of the favorites the coaches and I picked out.  LOL!

In the 5-6 year old group this is what some of them came up with.

Alex’s joke was, “Why is Pirates of the Caribbean rated R?” ……. because all the Pirates say RRRRRR!

Luke’s jokes were, “What does the ice say to the water?”…… you crack me up!

“How long does the mummy stay in the hospital after its bandages are removed?”…… until it has recovered!

“Why did the man stick is money in the freezer?”……. because he wanted Cold Hard Cash!

The Dreamers group

This is the 8-9 year old group at camp; below are their jokes.

Mackenzie’s joke is, “What is the best place to shop for a soccer jersey?”…….. New Jersey!

I can’t remember whose joke this is but my guess is it is one of the boys.  ”Why did the kid throw up?”………. because he wanted his leftovers!!

These are the 11-12 year olds in camp.  My cousin happened to have the best joke in this group.  She is a cajun from outside of Lafayette, Louisiana in a town called New Iberia.  Her joke is off a book of jokes from the Boudreaux and Thibodeaux series.  Those two are cajun names and supposed to represent some goofy cajuns!

Janzen’s joke is, “Boudreaux and Thibodeaux were walking to Lafayette then they came upon a sign that said Lafayette left so they turned around and went home”

I hope you enjoyed these jokes!  Favorite joke day at camp is one of my favorite days because the kids usually come up with some good ones.  Share your thoughts in the comment section and let me know which joke you like best or if you have a joke yourself that you think could cut it at favorite joke day!

Sporting the new gear for the Newspaper

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Two weeks ago I had a weekend soccer camp in Madisonville, Louisiana.  It was a good camp and it gave me a good chance to sport some of the new gear in public.  It was sweet seeing a lot of the players running around in the new Jared Montz Soccer gear.  It was good for business, but my poor mom looked a little overwhelmed selling gear at the JM Pro Soccer Shop (field edition) with everyone swarming the shop.  The new gear will be up in the JM Pro Soccer Shop Online just after the first of the year.  Post a comment in the comments section and let me know what you think.

Snow in Chicago, Snow in Louisiana?

Car in Chicago

Car in Chicago

Yesterday morning I woke up at 6:30am in Chicago to my car covered in snow and ice.  After 15 minutes of scraping the ice and snow off I packed it up and said, “Thats it I am going back to Louisiana so I can train outside and not freeze to death” (I was planning to go home anyway).  After two cups of coffee and a coke with lunch I made the fourteen hour trip in record time.  I made it so fast the first thing I did was drive straight to my favorite restaurant Mandina’s for a shrimp and oyster Po-Boy!  I went to bed stuffed, tired, and ready for training in warm weather first thing in the morning.

Alarm goes off, I look outside the window, and guess what I see; snow!  First I think I had to much caffeine

and I am in a weird dream and then I realize it is snowing heavy in Louisiana!!  That postponed my training session until the afternoon when the snow had time to melt from the streets and I could run without the fear of slipping on ice.  It was cool running through my neighborhood dodging snowballs from the kids that tried to hit me as I went by and seeing all the snowmen in people’s yards.  It is instinct for Southerners to build a snowman if they see snow.  This marks the 3rd time in 25 years I have seen snow in Louisiana.  Check out the snowman my Uncle Phil built!

In almost 4 months this is the longest I have not blogged and I apologize.  Its been a hectic past two weeks and it started with me waking up last Monday with a cold.  Being in the zone for three in a half months eventually catches up to you and the Chicago cold brought me a cold!  I had to take a day or two off becuase of it but I am back in business now.

On Thursday and Friday of last week I actually played soccer with other players on a team and it was great!  My body responded really well, despite the cold, and I was not to sore the day after which is excellent.  The fact that I was playing on turf is even better because that is real hard on your body so it was a good test for me.  For the Thursday session I was training on my own doing my normal routine at an indoor center called the Max outside of Chicago.  As I was finishing up the head coach of the women’s professional team in Chicago, Chicago Red Stars, came walking in.  Her name is Emma Hayes and she is from England.  She was giving a try out for some college seniors so I introduced myself and asked if I could play.  I felt a bit out of place being the only guy, but the session was great and the girls were good.  I was impressed and it was good for me to get some good soccer movement in a game environment.  I am sure she will put together a good team for the inagural 2009 season of the Women’s Professional League, WPL.  Thanks Emma, good luck!

I have a camp in Louisiana this week so I will be busy all weekend coaching.  Tomorrow night I am guest announcing at a local high school game.  I am looking forward to that as it will be my debut for game day announcing.  Before I go to bed tonight I will practice; GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!
